Martin O’Sullivan (Partner)

Martin O’Sullivan established the practice in 1978 very close to where our current office is located.

It is true to say that he is known the length and breadth of Ireland among the farming community as the author of the Farmers’ Handbook, now in its 27th edition, as well as being a bi-weekly columnist with the farming Independent. He holds an honours degree in Agricultural Science (UCD), a Diploma in Financial Services (UCD) and a Diploma in Forensic Accounting (Chartered Accountants Ireland).




John Malone (Partner)

John Malone is an Incorporated Public Accountant & Statutory Auditor who firstly graduated with a Bachelor of Business Studies degree in 1998 from Waterford Institute of Technology. John completed a training contract with a local firm before joining the practice in 2002 and he was admitted to partnership in 2008.

In his twelve years with the firm he has established a strong background in information technology, accounting software and regulatory and financial compliance. His client portfolio includes retail convenience operators, agri-services providers and medium-sized construction enterprises.



Barry Lonergan (Tax Manager)

Having qualified with a Bachelor of Business Studies in 2007 from Waterford Institute of Technology, Barry then joined the firm and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2011. In 2012 he qualified as a Chartered Tax Consultant coming Joint 3rd place in Ireland in his final exams. Barry is an Associate Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants and currently holds the role of Tax Manager in the firm.

His client portfolio includes, large dairy enterprises, waste management companies and professional service companies. Barry has specialist knowledge of the education and religious sectors.

Diarmuid Foley (Agricultural Consultant)

B.Agr.Sc., RAC, M.A.C.A – dfoley@som.ie

Diarmuid holds an honours degree in Agricultural Science. He commenced practice as a private farm consultant in 2015. He is head of our Farm Advisory Division here at O’Sullivan Malone. His areas of speciality are dairy farm advice, farm financial planning, expert witness reporting and farm company formations.

He has a keen interest in dairy farming and is actively involved in the home dairy herd comprising 180 cows. He is a keen sportsman and is a former member of the Tipperary senior football panel. Diarmuid also is a regular contributor to the Irish Farming Independent.





Barbara Hayes (Payroll Services Manager/Accounts Audit Senior) – bhayes@som.ie

Barbara joined the team in 1988 and started employment with Martin as Receptionist and then trained as Accounts Assistant.

In 2000 – Left to go Michelle Irl. Ltd. to work as Assistant Accountant and Payroll Manager.  It was during this time Barbara got her Payroll Management Qualification.

In 2004 – Barbara returned to our Company as Accounts Senior and 31 years later is still with us.

Angela Casey (Marketing & Media)  – info@farmershandbook.ie

Angela joined our team in 2013 and has progressed into a number of roles since.

Having qualified as an Estate Agent & Property Manager in 2005 and worked in that industry for approx. 10 years before joining us in the capacity of Marketing and Media Manager for our publication The Farmers Handbook.

Angela is also the Administrator for the Agricultural Advisory Alliance and the Secretariat for the A.C.A – Agricultural Consultants Association that has over 160 Members Nationwide.



Annette Norris (Accounts Assistant) – anorris@som.ie

Annette is with us since April 2013, having previously worked in the Accounts Department for a Construction Company. Having gained vast experience there Annette was equipped with the knowledge required for her role as Accounts Assistant here at O’Sullivan Malone.

She thoroughly enjoys the GAA and is a keen Waterford supporter and also organises the Lotto for the Piltown Juvenile Club.

Emma Power (Accounts Senior) – epower@som.ie

Emma began her career as an Accounts Clerk in 2007 for a Theatre Company where she stayed for 3 years. Following that she began working in practice in 2010 and joined our team in 2018.

In 2018 Emma completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Management of Information Systems Strategy with Dublin City University and is currently studying for her Master of Science with DCU, her Thesis is on The Impact of GDPR on Irish SMEs.

  • 2017 Qualified as a Trainer receiving the Professional Practice Certificate in Training and Development from the Irish Institute of Training & Development
  • 2014 Graduated as a Certified Public Accountant, is a member of CPA Ireland
  • 2007 Graduated with a Higher Diploma in Business & Financial Information Systems from University College Cork
  • 2006 Graduated with an Honours Degree in Business Studies from Tipperary Institute



Kate Dolinska (Accounts Assistant) –  kdolinska@som.ie

Kate is the newest member of our team, she joined us in March 2019. Kate is from Poland and has been living in Ireland since 2009.

Kate achieved her BA in Art of Accounting from W.I.T in 2018 and is currently working towards her ACCA Qualification through Griffith College Dublin. She hopes to specialise in Taxation.

Before joining us Kate was the Manager and Cashier in Harcourt Bookmakers giving her vital experience for her Accounting Career.





Michael Meagher (Accounts Assistant) -mmeagher@som.ie 

Michael joined O’Sullivan Malone in February 2020. Michael graduated from University College Cork in 2017 after completing the BSc Accounting degree and is currently working towards his ACCA qualification through AccountancySchool.ie and hope to specialise in taxation.

Before joining O’Sullivan Malone he spent time farming and travelling abroad in New Zealand, Australia and America. He obtained his green cert in 2019 and now farms in partnership with his father on the home tillage farm also.
